BEVA®371 solution was developed by Gustav A. Berger in 1970. Solids comprise 40% (by weight) of adhesive solution and include the following components: Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (Elvax 150), Cyclohexanone Resin (Lapropal K80). , Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (AC Copolymer), Hydroabiethyl Alcohol Phthalate Ester (Cellolyn 21) and Petrolatum (Paraffin). Solvents comprise 60% solution, which is a combination of toluene and naphtha.

BEVA®371 solution is particularly useful as a base for paintings and can be applied by brush, roller or spray to any surface. In most cases, the solution (usually a room temperature gel) must be diluted with equal amounts of naphtha or xylene. Detailed instructions are included with each can.

The BEVA®371 solution can be removed from absorbent surfaces using hexane or acetone, as long as these solvents do not damage the article. These solvents do not dissolve the adhesive, but only swell it, so they do not stain or stain absorbent materials.
