Vacuum saturation system VPS, manufactured by Labostera UAB.

With the rapid development of technology, vacuum is increasingly used in the field of restoration of archaeological finds. Using vacuum systems, it is possible to significantly improve the quality of conservation of archaeological finds, to facilitate the work of restorers. By saturating (or consolidating) the surfaces with consolidating solutions in a vacuum environment, the penetration of those solutions into areas of archaeological finds that cannot be reached with brushes is ensured. The use of vacuum for saturating archaeological finds with preservative solutions, drying finds after washing or freezing can be applied to finds made of such materials as iron, copper, wood, ceramics, glass, leather, amber.

Advantages of VPS:

  • Large (Ø301mm x 360mm), clear glass vacuum chamber hood. It is convenient to monitor the processes taking place in the camera.
  • Control and regulation of all process-influencing parameters (vacuum depth, vacuum depth change rate, pressure equalization rate in the chamber, impregnating solution inlet/outlet rate). The operator controls and freely adjusts these parameters.
  • A compressor for supplying air to the chamber, so that the glass cover is released from the base after the work is completed in a vacuum environment. This protects the camera gasket from mechanical damage and facilitates the operator's work.
  • Shelf for containers with solutions. The containers are conveniently placed under the table top, the operator does not need to carry them, they can be transported together with the table.
  • Electromechanical raising and lowering of the glass cover. The operator does not need to lift the heavy hood, the possibility of breaking the glass hood is minimized.
  • Simple and convenient management. All control and control devices are located on one side of the table. The operator can work both standing and sitting.
  • Very simple preparation for work: after placing the device in the right place, it is enough to insert the plug into the 230 V 50 Hz mains socket.
  • The system is mounted on a mobile table. Table castors with brakes, so the device is easy to place and lock in a convenient place for work.
  • At the request of the customer, several sets of pipelines are provided, through which the preservative resin (solution) is introduced/discharged into the vacuum chamber. This avoids a long washing procedure. Number of sets - as needed.
  • At the customer's request, the system can be equipped with a 0.5 m high glass hood, which would allow processing larger finds.
  • At the request of the customer, optimizing the use of the volume of the vacuum chamber, we can choose an internal container of the chamber or a set of containers of different dimensions.
